Surprise

I love a surprise. I got a pleasant one on Saturday when shopping with Miss 4 (for nail polish and lipstick of course) and on the advise of a good friend decided to drop into Best and Less - she had informed me they had a nice pair of aqua coloured jeans and the promise of plus-size coloured denim is to much for me to resist these days. Now, as we know Best and Less is not a bastion of high fashion - its a basics, cheapy socks and undies kind of place so imagine my surprise to be confronted with a rather pleasant display of items and what's more, right in front me was what appeared to be a top identical to one I'd been coveting a few months back from Dorothy Perkins. I had it pinned to my Pinterest board so I checked and it is exactly the same - score!! Only $25 too - it's this one:

So that was scooped up along with a cute black short sleeve shirt with white bird print that I am sure you'll be seeing soon. So a few words on my new purchase - I had thought the top would be more like a tee when I first saw it online, but it isn't. Its a viscose and has no stretch, but it isn't shaped at all. I bought mine in a 22 and to be honest it is a bit fitted across my belly and around my arms, but a size up and I think it'd be too baggy around my torso. It has an exposed gold zip at the back - I kind of like that trend. So now what to wear it with: I am thinking coral or dark denim.

Also spotted was this very pretty sleeveless blouse, also previously seen on Dotty P so I am thinking Best and Less have tapped Dorothy Perkins' supplier!

Unfortunately that particular BnL seemed to be out of aqua jeans, but they did have some nice brigth coral ones, as well as a great array items in shades of coral, navy, aqua plus prints featuring birds and polka dots. Well worth checking out.

Boots

So part of what spurred me into action was perusing my regular blog haunts and seeing the launch of Aussie Curves out into the big wide blogging world.  What a fabulous idea and as the theme was 'boots' and I happened to be wearing my favourite boots yesterday I made my husband take a few snaps when I got home.

So here I am in all my booting glory. I realised that aside from my boots, everything else I'm wearing is from Big W!

Black cardigan - Big W
Dress/tunic - Big W
Black full length leggings - Big W
Boots – Sara

My boots are a low heeled boot from Sara. I bought these when Sara launched their first range of boots which must have been 2009 - I am sure I would have bought them on sale (that is my general modus operandi) and they are so comfortable, more than adequately accommodating my wide calves and wide feet.

Sara had quite an expanded range of boots this winter including leather and non-leather - with a number of styles currently on sale.  I already have high heeled boots in black and tan, but after seeing how nice the brown brogues looked on a real person thanks to 2ManyCupcakes and for a measly $49 am very tempted to get a pair.

About me

So I have been contemplating for a while doing this blogging thing about . I really enjoy reading all the plus size blogs out there from around the world and especially the ones from Australia. I love seeing what other women wear, how they wear it and what's available out there. I love seeing women confident in thier bodies and embracing who they are and wearing what they want, what makes them feel good. I guess I come at this from a slightly different angle in that I am a little older than I am guessing a lot of other bloggers are. That said, I really am only just discovering what it is I want to wear, rather than what I've always felt I should wear or for the longest time what I could wear because the choices were so limited in the past. I am also a Mumma to two girls, work full time, love to eat, read and sleep and have a long-term love affair with shoes and handbags. So, that's the basics about me.
